Nursing Homes Kelowna

Nursing Homes Kelowna - A skilled nursing facility is a place where people have the alternative to live when they are no longer able to perform their daily activities. This reduction of function may be short-term or long term. Depending upon the individual's needs, employees would be able to assist patients with lots of tasks such as taking a bath, eating, going to the bathroom and grooming. The rooms can be designed similar to a hospital setting, with some private rooms and several shared rooms. Bathrooms may also be private or shared.

A nursing home is another term more frequently utilized to describe a skilled nursing facility. This is due to the fact that nurses carry most of the workload in these facilities. All of the nurses within a nursing home facility will have varying degrees of certification and various specialties. Nurses would directly speak with the doctors of the patient and other members of the healthcare group in order to guarantee proper patient care. Nursing facilities provide 24 hour care to those patients whose needs are not severe enough to need hospitalization, but are severe enough that they need constant monitoring. If required, the patient's physician can make a visit to the nursing facility.

Skilled nursing homes are also known as old folks homes due to the many elderlies living there. Nonetheless, in more recent years, new services like for example rehabilitation have been included to many facilities. Usually, someone who has just gone through surgery, like a hip or knee replacement, would stay in a skilled nursing facility for several weeks or months, depending on the requirements of their rehabilitation. Major surgeries, such as joint replacements, will be very hard for most individuals to care for at home, particularly if they live by themselves. A skilled nursing facility provides 24 hour care and physical therapy in an environment which is safe and is intended to house people with disabilities.
